Undergraduate Mentorship Programme 2023-24 Kick-off Ceremony
Prof. Lin ZHOU, Dean of CUHK Business School, delivered an opening speech.
The Undergraduate Mentorship Programme 2023-24 Kick-off Ceremony, jointly organised by The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Business School Undergraduate Office and the BBA Alumni Association, was successfully held on 4 November, 2023.
This year, 60 mentors and 136 student mentees from all business major programmes participated in the mentorship programme. In the coming year, these mentees will receive personalised coaching and guidance from the mentors on their personal and career development.
To kick-start the ceremony, Professor Lin Zhou, Dean of CUHK Business School, delivered a welcome remark. “One of the strengths that distinguishes us from other business schools is our strong alumni network,” said Professor Zhou. “Dear students, you, as mentees, hold equal importance in this mentorship programme. Your energy, aspirations, creativity, and digital intelligence are far more powerful and inspiring than you may realise.”

Continuing the event, Mr. Henry Keung (GBS/2012), Senior Manager of Product, Flights Business at Trip.com Group, shared his inspiring journey from a mentee to a mentor. He talked about motivation to join the mentorship programme when he was an undergraduate student, highlighting how he entered the world of social innovation and entrepreneurship. Mr. Keung also expressed his gratitude for the valuable lessons he learned from his young mentees. In his sharing, Mr. Keung revealed that one of his mentees had become a mentor after years. This inspiring story showcased the transformative power of mentorship and its ability to empower individuals.

In a dialogue session moderated by Dr. Fred Ku, Associate Dean (Undergraduate Studies), Michael Mok (IBBA/3) and Jancy Jiang (IBBA/5), two student mentees from last year’s programme, shared their experiences and provided tips on maintaining a fruitful mentorship relationship.
Ms. Angela Fung, Vice-Chairperson of Mentorship & Membership, CUHK BBA Alumni Association, also addressed the event, encouraging both mentors and mentees to be perseverant on their path to success.
Before concluding the ceremony, Ng Wing Yan (QFIN/3) was awarded the CUHK BBA Alumni Association Scholarship, recognising her academic achievements, outstanding leadership, and contributions to social services. Mentors were also presented with certificates as tokens of appreciation by Mr. Raymond Lo, Chairman of the CUHK BBA Alumni Association, and Dr. Fred Ku.
