CUHK Orientation Day for Undergraduate Admissions 2018 Drew around 56,000 Visitors

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Orientation Day for Undergraduate Admissions was successfully held on October 20, 2018. Around 56,000 secondary students, parents, teachers and public visitors were drawn to the CUHK campus, looking for admissions and programmes information.

CUHK Business School organised a packed programme of events during the Orientation Day, including programme exhibitions, admission talks, alumni sharing, consultation sessions and guided tours, for visitors to develop a clear understanding of the 11 undergraduate programmes offered by the School.

Visitors met with programme directors, faculty members and student ambassadors to find out details of important topics, such as admissions requirements, programme structure and curriculum, student life, internship opportunities, global experience, enrichment activities, etc.

During the feature talk “Are you ready for business studies? Prepare yourself for the innovative teaching and learning @CUHK Business School”, Prof. Kalok Chan, Dean of CUHK Business School, welcomed the audience and gave an update on the school’s latest development, including the School’s Dual Degree Programmes with two overseas business schools in Europe. The dual degree programmes are planned to be launched in 2019 academic year*. At the feature talk, Dr. Fred Ku, Assistant Dean (Undergraduate Studies), also introduced the curriculum update, as well as the classroom learning experience, such as the idea of the flipped classroom, eLearning and video projects.

The School also had the pleasure to invite distinguished alumni from different industries to share with visitors their insights and personal journey of the CUHK business education, during the IBBA admission talk and alumni sharing sessions. The list of speakers include:-

-Mr. Peter Yan, Chief Executive Officer, Cyberport (BBA in Marketing 1985)
-Mr. Eric Hui, Chief Executive Officer, Zurich Insurance(BBA in General Business Management 1989)
-Ms. Angel Ng, Chief Executive Officer, Citibank Hong Kong and Macau(BBA in Integrated BBA 1990)
-Mr. Eric Lin, General Manager, Haircare, Hong Kong & Taiwan, Procter and Gamble (BBA in Integrated BBA 2002)
-Mr. Arnold Chan, Founder and CEO, Teach4HK(BBA in Inegrated BBA/Global Business Studies 2010)
-Ms. Cherry Yau, Associate, Boston Consulting Group (BBA in Integrated BBA/Global Business Studies 2017)

Together with Prof. Andy Wong, Associate Dean (Undergraduate Studies), also an alumnus of BBA in Integrated BBA 1990, they formed the discussion panel and shared with the audience the benefits of business education, and what employers expect from the new generation of business graduates. The talks attracted close to a thousand audiences.
