Team CUHK Takes Home Championship and 2nd Runner-Up at the HKU-SaSa Joint University Case Competition 2023

CUHK Business School teams have achieved remarkable success at the HKU-SaSa Joint University Case Competition 2023. The team of Bowie Mock, Charlie Lin, Sally Ng, and Sophia Wong (all GBS/1) were announced as the champions, while Ellen Chan (PACC/2), David Yau, Ethan Choi (both QFIN/1), and Evelyn Lam (GBS/1) secured the 2nd runner-up title. Their outstanding achievements showcased their exceptional skills, expertise in the field, and ability to perform under pressure.

Bowie Mock, a member of the winning team, described the competition as a fantastic experience that provided them with valuable insights into the Hong Kong cosmetic industry, thanks to the sponsorship of SaSa. “We developed a strategy for SaSa to rejuvenate its brand image for the Gen Z customer segment and potentially expand into the Singaporean market,” said Bowie. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to represent CUHK in an external case competition. He gained valuable experience by applying the skills he had learned in school.

Evelyn Lam, another member of the CUHK Business School team, expressed the team’s honour in representing CUHK Business School at JUCC 2023. She shared that the team had a lot of fun devising a seamless customer journey to help SaSa capture the untapped Gen Z market.  “It stimulated us to approach the case from the perspective of a SaSa customer,” said Evelyn.

The Joint University Case Competition (JUCC) is the annual signature event of HKU International Case Society (HICS), a student-run organization supported by the HKU Business School which aims to provide a platform for students to showcase their problem-solving skills and exchange ideas with industry experts, company representatives, and academia. We are immensely proud of our students’ outstanding performance and applaud their hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence.
