Undergraduate Mentorship Programme 2024-25 Kick-off Ceremony
The Undergraduate Mentorship Programme 2024-25, jointly organised by The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Business School Undergraduate Office and the CUHK BBA Alumni Association, was successfully kicked-off on 2 November 2024.
With the theme “Shared Journey ‧ Elevated Growth”, the 2024-25 mentorship programme welcomed 53 mentors and 147 student mentees from various business major programmes. In the upcoming year, these mentors and mentees will start on their journey of growth together, focusing on personal and career development.
To kick-start the ceremony, Dr. John Lai, Assistant Dean (Undergraduate Studies) of CUHK Business School, delivered a welcome remark, highlighting the importance of mentorship. He emphasised how mentees can learn effectively by observing and engaging with others. Additionally, he shared his own experiences as a mentee and encouraged students to keep their mentors updated while maintaining a meaningful and sincere relationship.
Continuing the event, Ms. Jennifer Lin (IBBA 2009), Associate Head, Feminine Care, International at Kimberly-Clark, shared her transformative journey from mentee to mentor, highlighting the significant impact this transition had on her personal and professional growth. She elaborated on how her experiences as a mentee prompted valuable reflections that shaped her approach in her mentoring role. Additionally, she emphasised the deep and lasting relationship she built with her own mentor, illustrating how their connection not only influenced her career but also enriched her life in profound ways.
In a dialogue session moderated by Dr. John Lai, Peter Chan (IBBA, Year 4) and Sheila Yip (PACC, Year 3), two student mentees who participated in the programme last year, shared the inner thoughts of Generation Z about the mentorship programme, offering a unique perspective on their experiences and the impact of mentorship on their career planning journey.
Mr. Dicky Tse, Chairman of the CUHK BBA Alumni Association also addressed the event, encouraging both mentors and mentees to engage in two-way communication, thereby enhancing the mentorship programme and imparting a greater significance to the overall experience.
Before concluding the ceremony, Guo Jialin (QFRM, Year 3) was awarded the CUHK BBA Alumni Association Scholarship, recognising his outstanding academic achievement, leadership skills and strong commitment to both society and the university.
