Inauguration Ceremony for Undergraduates 2025 and Beta Gamma Sigma CUHK Chapter Honoree Induction

On 24 August 2025, we were delighted to welcome more than 750 new undergraduates from 20 locations around the world into CUHK Business School family at our Inauguration Ceremony. This signature event celebrated the start of an exciting new chapter for our incoming class, marking the beginning of their academic and personal growth within our vibrant community.

We were privileged to welcome Ms Wong Fung Han, Gilly, former Chief Executive of Consumer Council, as our guest of honour. Also in attendance were Professor Zhou Lin, Dean of CUHK Business School; Dr. Fred Ku, Associate Dean (Undergraduate Studies); faculty members; and over 400 proud parents who came to witness their sons’ and daughters’ pride moments, filling the Sir Run Run Shaw Hall to a full house.

The ceremony began with an inspiring address from Dean Zhou, who emphasised the School’s mission to cultivate global leaders capable of shaping the future of business. “When someone asks why you chose CUHK Business School,” he urged the students, “answer with confidence—you are here to master uncertainty, lead with vision, and write the next chapter of progress.”

A highlight of the event was the presentation of the Beta Gamma Sigma CUHK Chapter Honoree Award 2025 to Ms Wong Fung Han, Gilly, our distinguished BBA alumna, recognised for her dedication to consumer rights and ethical leadership. In her heartfelt speech, Ms Wong shared invaluable wisdom from her remarkable career: “Success is not defined solely by titles or wealth. It is defined by the principles you uphold, the lives you touch, and the legacy you leave behind.” She encouraged every student to embody the CUHK spirit of excellence, resilience, and service in all their future endeavours.

Following her address, a symbolic badge presentation took place, during which Ms. Wong and the Undergraduate Programme Directors presented badges to the freshmen, formally welcoming them into the community. These badges serve as a powerful emblem of the responsibility, professionalism, and commitment that come with being a member of CUHK Business School.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Fred Ku reminded students that business is not just about markets and margins; it is about people and progress. “Whether through sustainable innovation, social advocacy, or ethical leadership,” he noted, “you have the power to drive meaningful change.”
Adding to the day’s vibrant atmosphere, a captivating acapella performance was delivered by our talented students Jane Kwan (IBBA, Year 4) and Molly Yeung (IBBA, Year 4), along with Focus, an acapella group led by CUHK alumni. Their harmonious voices filled the hall, leaving a lasting impression on all attendees.
We extend our sincerest gratitude to the Faculty, Alumni Affairs and Development Office, our Undergraduate Programme Directors, and everyone who contributed to making this event a memorable success. Special thanks go to our brilliant student emcees, Wendy Fung (GLEF, Year 4) and Matthew Tsui (BBA-JD, Year 2), as well as all the student helpers whose dedication ensured the smooth execution of the ceremony.
