Discovering Responsible Business with CUHK Business School: Study Tour to Kyoto

During the week of 12 May 2025, the Undergraduate Office of CUHK Business School (UGO) took our students to Kyoto, Japan to observe responsible business practices beyond Hong Kong. The tour was joined by two of our partner universities, National Chiayi University (NCYU) and Nagoya University of Commerce and Business (NUCB) from the Asian Business Education Network (ABEN), creating a diverse group of international participants with a multicultural and thought-provoking learning environment.

Local-Based Company Visits: From Top Manufacturers to Fair-Trade Shop

The week-long event was intensive but fruitful – our group had the pleasure of visiting top Japan-based manufacturers, ROHM Co. Ltd. and OMRON Corporation, to understand how sustainability is embedded in their daily operations and the use of technology in businesses in response to the social needs.

To spark connections among participants and explore Japan’s sustainable business models, we invited Prof. William BABER, Professor at Kyoto University Graduate School of Management, and Prof. GOI Hoe-chin, Professor at NUCB Business School, to lead engaging hands-on workshops and site visits outside classroom hours to keep the learning vibe going.
