Undergraduate Mentorship Programme 2025-26 Kick-off Ceremony

The Undergraduate Mentorship Programme 2025–26, jointly organised by The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Business School Undergraduate Office and the CUHK BBA Alumni Association, successfully kicked off on 25 October 2025. This year, with the theme “Grow strong. Shine bright. Empower future.”, the programme welcomes 41 current mentors and 11 new joiners, together with 150 student mentees, to embark on the mentorship journey with us.

The ceremony began with a warm welcome speech from Dr John Lai, Assistant Dean (Undergraduate Studies), who emphasised that mentorship is not only about seeking guidance but a platform for both professional and personal growth. He highlighted curiosity and conversation as the foundation of successful mentorship, encouraging mentees to take initiative and engage in open dialogue based on trust, respect, and sincerity. Dr Lai also shared practical tips for mentees on how to communicate professionally with their mentors, pointing out the importance of proactive engagement and maintaining a respectful and collaborative tone throughout the mentorship journey.

Moving on, mentee representatives Chew Yun Ching (GLEF, Year 4) and Lu Min Ho (IBCE, Year 2) took the stage to share their mentorship experiences in the previous cohort. Both of them gained valuable advice from their mentors and groupmates on academic development and practical skills for future careers. Their stories illustrated how stepping outside one’s comfort zone fosters growth. Meanwhile, they also expressed deep appreciation to all of the mentors for their invaluable support in giving back and shaping the future of CUHK Business School students.

Participants then engaged in interactive group mingling and sharing sessions, providing an excellent opportunity for mentors and mentees to network, exchange ideas, and form meaningful connections inside and outside of their assigned groups. Following the sharing sessions, Ms Kathy Leung, Chairperson of the CUHK BBA Alumni Association, addressed the audience, reinforcing the importance of maintaining strong ties within CUHK Business School.

The CUHK BBA Alumni Association Scholarship awards were presented at the Kick-off Ceremony. This year, the scholarships were awarded to Leung Ying Hin (GBS, Year 2) and Chaung Ching Ho (GBS, Year 2), recognising their outstanding academic achievement, leadership skills and strong commitment to both society and the university.
