From Theory to Impact: CUHK Business School Students Dive into Seoul’s Social Innovation Ecosystem through Study Trip from 28 Dec 2025 – 3 Jan 2026
Cold weather but a warm heart on social innovation! A group of 20 enthusiastic business students recently concluded their adventures as Social Changemakers in Seoul during the week-long study trip led by the Undergraduate Office of CUHK Business School (UGO). Despite the biting winter chill in South Korea’s capital, the warmth of inspiration, cross-cultural connections, and purpose-driven learning made this journey unforgettable – and even kicking off 2026 with a renewed commitment to driving positive social impact through innovative business practices.
In partnership with Hanyang University, the trip immersed students in Seoul’s vibrant approach to blending business acumen with social impact. Through interactive sessions, company visits, and on-the ground exploration, participants gained first-hand insights into how Seoul’s enterprises harness corporate power to address pressing societal issues, ranging from employment equity and social inclusion for vulnerable groups to community resilience, sustainability, and youth empowerment.
In addition to the company visits, participants joined an eye-opening Gangnam walking tour to uncover the social issues hidden beneath South Korea’s glittering surface, including intense education pressures, the critically low birth rate, and the widespread prevalence of plastic surgery.
Beyond the learning, the trip gave students the special opportunity to count down to and celebrate the arrival of 2026 in Seoul amid dazzling fireworks and the iconic bell-ringing ceremony. It also created lasting friendships with Hanyang University peers through vibrant cross-cultural interactions and meaningful idea exchanges.
