CUHK Business School Team Wins 2025 Bloomberg Global Trading Challenge as Global Champions

A team of undergraduate students from CUHK Business School has been crowned the Grand Prize winner of the 2025 Bloomberg Global Trading Challenge, triumphing over a field of 2,600 teams representing 396 universities worldwide.

The winning team, “Bear Bull,” achieved an extraordinary return of over 400% in the five-week virtual investing competition, growing a simulated US$1 million portfolio to US$4.1 million, outperforming over 11,000 participating students from 50 countries.

Guided by Dr. Haynes Yung, the team was led by captain Shierina Sayogo (QFIN, Year 2), with members Gracia Perdana (GLEF, Year 1), Marvelia Tjen (IBBA, Year 1), and Cherish Nicolaus (IBBA, Year 1).

Reflecting on the achievement, Team Captain Shierina Sayogo said, “Winning the 2025 Bloomberg Global Trading Challenge as the global champion was an unforgettable experience for our team. Over five weeks, we executed an active, disciplined strategy with daily portfolio monitoring and risk management across global equity markets. The Challenge strengthened our analytical skills and reinforced how real-world market experience can shape our academic focus and future careers in finance.”

This landmark victory underscores the effectiveness of CUHK Business School’s curriculum, which integrates rigorous academic theory with the realities of collaborative decision-making and live-market strategy execution.

Congratulations once again to Team “Bear Bull” for exemplifying excellence on the global stage. We are incredibly proud!
